Flip the Script: You’ll Never Change – kyle idleman

In this sermon, Kyle explains that we have all been victims of the dangerous idea that some of our bad habits and ‘nagging sins’ are in our life to stay. These wrongful notions get reinforced over the years to the point that we get used to things we should not live with, as new creatures in Christ Jesus.

The devil wants us to stop fighting, feel deflated, defeated and helpless in our walk with God such that we become discouraged to fight the good fight of faith. This particular sermon addressed one of the scripts the devil gives us to read every day. One of those scripts is the one which says: ‘You’ll Never Change’.

I know Christians who like myself, have become passive to some areas in our lives where we should be earnestly seeking transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s because we have tried over and over again, countless times without success that we settle for the lie that we’ll never change. We settle for this lie when we put our trust in our strength and not in God’s power to progressively strengthen us to win the battle over stubborn strongholds in our lives.

Settling for the lie that we’ll never change, mocks the power of Jesus to change us. We can change! We have the Spirit of God in us. Kyle reminds us of these verses:

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

1 Corinthians 10: 3-5

I highly recommend this sermon and three others which make up the ‘Flip the Script’ series. They are all available on YouTube. May God use them to speak to your heart in a life-changing way.
